Hi, I’m Leo Gomez.
With over 25 years of experience, I help educators and institutions develop expertise and agility to make a lasting impact on learning.
Educator | Teacher Educator | MA TESOL | Cambridge Delta-qualified Teacher | Learning & Curriculum Designer | Podcast Host | Entrepreneur | Co-founder at Learn YOUR English
I help language educators and institutions develop their teaching expertise and agility to create meaningful, research-informed learning experiences. I am one of the founders of Learn YOUR English, a grassroots company dedicated to helping language teachers escape precarity by generating their own income and taking control of their professional futures.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of teaching English to learners of all ages – from teens to the elderly – across 7 countries. I’ve designed courses for universities and colleges, honing my teaching agility to engage learners with evidence-based strategies such as Communicative Language Teaching, Task-Based Learning, Interleaved Practice, Action-Oriented Approach, Plurilingualism, and working with Emergent Language.
I hold a Master’s in TESOL from the University of Birmingham and a Cambridge DELTA. I’ve also been the host of the long-standing podcast in ELT, “Teacher Talking Time,” where I’ve had the opportunity to interview, engage in insightful conversations, and learn from some of the biggest names in applied linguistics and second language acquisition research.
My research interests reflect the dynamic and multifaceted nature of language education, including affordances in learning, Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT), podcasting as a tool for professional development, second language listening, and responsive pedagogy. I am particularly interested in leveraging corpus-based tools for teaching and learning, as well as designing innovative courses that connect research with practical application in diverse educational contexts.
